How to beat the boredom at home

During these unprecedented times, no matter what your age, hobbies or interests may be, we’re all wondering how to stay connected to others and how to occupy ourselves around the house. Here are a few hints and tips to #beattheboredom and #stayconnected:

1.       Stay in touch

It is very important to stay in touch with your loved ones, particularly when you are alone in the house, not just now but always. With busy lifestyles and work commitments, it isn’t always possible to be able to see friends and family face to face as often as you’d like. It’s a good idea to invest in a mobile phone so you can stay in touch wherever you are. Having a means to contact your loved ones will not only bring conversation and company to your day but it also gives those closest to you comfort in the knowledge that they can check on your safety and well-being at all times.

2.       Challenge your brain

Not only are jigsaws, puzzles and colouring books fun, they are also a great way to challenge the brain and keep your mind active. Colouring books are also popular with all ages and work as a great stress reliever. Whether you want a real challenge that will keep you occupied for a while, or something a little more light hearted and quicker to complete, we have a wide range of jigsaws, puzzles and colouring books available.

3.       Listen to some music

Music is known to lift our mood no matter what we are doing or where we are so whilst indoors, it can provide a real boost to our day and keep us in a positive frame of mind. Whether you’re singing along to some classics on a CD or cassette, relaxing to some peaceful jazz on your LPs in the evening, or letting the radio choose the genre for you, music is an excellent form of entertainment. Not only this, but many people (and even our pets!) find the radio to be company and a source of comfort. We have many types of audio equipment, click here for the collection.

4.       Spring clean

Spring is the perfect time to clean your house from top to bottom. It can feel a daunting task at first but once it’s complete, you can rest and relax in your fresh, clean home. At Chums, we have lots of products and appliances that can help you achieve the big spring clean, including hand held vaccum cleaners and table top dryers. View our full range of cleaning items here. You may also want to free up some space in your home no matter what room of the house you’re tackling first. We have some excellent ways of saving space with these handy storage solutions, and we’ve even made a blog to help you sort out that wardrobe once and for all which you can view here.

5.       Get out in the garden

With the way the British weather has been recently, I think we have all neglected our gardens to some degree! Now the warmer weather is drawing closer, why not get out in the garden to read a book or water those plants. Not only will you reap the health benefits of getting fresh air and some vitamin D from natural sunlight but it can also keep you busy.

Whatever you choose to do to #stayconnected and #beattheboredom most importantly, stay safe.
